Respite in Legacy Park

Tomorrow, I will write my final essays for my PhD comprehensive exams. I'm nearing the last big hill of this marathon. Last week, in between exam days, I found a need to release pent up physical energy on Wednesday and Thursday. In addition to my backyard trampoline, Decatur's Legacy Park proved the perfect place to cycle, walk, and breath that restless energy away.

Beaver Dam at Legacy Park

Good friends, parents of my daughter's best friends, pointed out the beaver dam to me on Wednesday. On Thursday, I brought my husband to see it, and we traversed the whole perimeter of the Postal Pond. There were just enough mysterious structures, remnants of the property's time as the United Methodist Children's Home to keep our interest piqued. We also saw ducks, turtles, frogs, and butterflies enjoying the warmth of early spring.

I look forward to spending time at Legacy Park in every season this coming year!
